SharpDevelop dark color scheme

EDIT (February 11th 2012): I uploaded the scripts to github, I hope this way it will never go offline again :-)

EDIT (July 4th 2011): I updated the URL again (here) and also added the version with highlighting for .NET keywords. If I have some time I'll try to port it to SD4.

I've been using SharpDevelop a lot in the past couple of weeks and I really like it, it's a hell of a lot lighter than Visual Studio and... it's open source!!

One of the things I was missing was a light-on-dark color scheme, so after a little digging I figured out how and here's what I got:

You can get it from here, just copy the file "CSharp-Mode.xshd" to "%UserProfile%\Application Data\ICSharpCode\SharpDevelop3.0\modes" and restart SharpDevelop.

thanks a zillion. My eyes have been spared :-).

do you see a flicker with you switch to a tab to the right ?

when i switch to a tab to the left, its fine, but when i switch to a tab to the right, the screen paints itself white first and then applies the black colour :-)

The university finally noticed that I graduated (after 4 years...) and close my web storage account, so the old link is dead,

I uploaded the code to this url:

Does this work in Sharpdevelop 4.0?
I see that by default there is not even a modes directory by default in
C:\Users\abc\AppData\Roaming\ICSharpCode\SharpDevelop4.0
I tried creating a folder called modes but that did not work.

And in
C:\Program Files (x86)\SharpDevelop\4.0\data\modes
has two files
C64Sharp.xshd and
CSharp-Mode-VSEenh.xshd
is either of them used?
I changed that as well to no effect.

Sorry, but I've never used SharpDevelop 4.0 so I don't know...

I have #Develop 3.2 installed and your file is not working**. I have even tried (dumbly, I must add) creating a folder called SharpDevelop3.2 :) and even that is not enough. Is it working for you with any of the latest 3.x versions? If yes, any clues why it is not working for me?

** not working = not even considering the contents of the file. It is black text on white as usual.

Please ignore my previous comment. My bad! I used yours and was trying to open a Ruby file :). Only after some time I realized I need to make the changes in the ICSharpCode.RubyBinding.Resources.Ruby.xshd file. Thanks a lot!

This color scheme is great!
How do I use in sharpdevelop 4?

It would be great if you created a dark theme for SharpDevelop 4.0.

Cool looks.
Where you can download it? Link does not work.
I work for SD 4, but can alter and under it.

Hi everyone, thanks for the great feedback, I updated the URL again and also added the version with highlighting for .NET keywords. If I have some time I'll try to port it to SD4.

Sorry, but your last link (http://elentok.com/stuff/SharpDevelop3-ColorSettings.zip) is not working...
David Elentok said…
RatoMG: Hi, the link is working now (I moved to another server and forgot to copy that file).

Again, don't know if it works with SD4, haven't had a chance to try.

If it does work, please let me know :-)

Thought of posting the code on Github? You could upload the files within the github project also.

Would be awesome!

In case anyone wants a dark theme for SharpDevelop 4, you can use mine if you like.

http://pastebin.com/rrimTuvM

Replace relevant section in:
%APPDATA%ICSharpCode\SharpDevelop4\SharpDevelopProperties.xml

Otherwise just adjust it via the menu...
